WHEN DEDICATION AND DETERMINATION OVERRULE THE IMPOSSIBLE

Time and rains were the major constraints in putting together the town square before the start of the celebration of the 2008 town fiesta but the combined determination of Congressman Mark O. Cojuangco and Mayor Kimi put a chain reaction that defied the impossible.

DECEMBER 14TH – THE GRAND OPENING

The very young Senator, Honorable Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, who is wrongly regarded as always in strict mood graced the town in celebrating its 146th Founding Anniversary as Keynote Guest and Speaker. Together with the very beautiful and compassionate Madame Gretchen O. Cojuangco, the better half of the Man of All Years, Ambassador Danding Cojuangco, he was also the main sponsor in cutting the ribbon during the new Town Square’s inaugural rite.

One good baby politician who prefers to be called a leader met the young Senator during one special gathering saw him in his complete reverse - good-natured and very ebullient. Bowled over, she blurted, “Is that really Chiz?” First impression lasts but it is not eternal.

MARTIN NIEVERA LIVE CONCERT

After the very remarkable messages shared by very remarkable personalities, the lights suddenly turned vivid and multihued. The beating of the drums and the rise of electronic sounds grabbed hold of the moment – a prelude to the entrance of the Concert King, the Great Martin Nievera.

Prior to his arrival, his van was involved in a traffic accident in Paniqui, Tarlac that resulted in the delay of his show. The Mayor was very alarmed so she immediately requested the Northern Cement Corporation Physician, Dr. Francisco Bracewell to rescue him and do all the necessary medical assistance that the Concert King might need. When they arrived, Mr. Martin Nievera was very lucky to have only gotten a slight bruise in his forehand.

He climbed the stage in full energy and immediately went on to his task that sparked tremendous applause from almost half of the population of the entire municipality. He charmed everyone with his romantic songs in utmost professionalism that put the Search for Sison Idol finalists extremely edgy. He sang with the idols in a very caring mode. He was always quick to lift them when they trip up.

In mid-verses, he extolled the discipline shown by the Sison crowd. “I appreciate so much the discipline you’ve shown tonight, a clear manifestation of the discipline that your leaders have.” Martin said.

SEARCH FOR SISON IDOL – THE FINALE

The night was a fusion of different emotions; the crowd was grouped into factions – according to barangay and according to idol. In her introductory speech, Mayor Kimi challenged the youths to become active in doing something for the country. She also exalted the Sison Idol finalists for their courage as well as the parents who labor so much for the good of their children.

All has its end. The camaraderie, the bond crafted by the time spent together by the Sison Idol finalists finally had its toll. Comrades turned combatants and good friends became foes. Only one has to stand. Don’t fret, that is just the search – the contest has to have a result. The real focus was to let the youths know that they too have their place and a vital role to make in this country that we live in - and the time is NOW!
